...but is it the best thing for the team?
Steve, as much as I appreciate having a Ducks blogger on this site this statement is considered heresy to Ducks fans. There is ALWAYS room on the Ducks roster for Teemu. He brings so much more to the team than what happens on the ice, and it's not like he's a slouch out there by the way.
We'll let this one transgression slide this time, but you've been warned. Don't tread on Teemu.

Teemu would have a roster spot on all 30 teams if he wanted next year. If he returns it is great news for Duck fans as well as all fans across the league.

there is no 'younger' ready to make it full time to take Selanne's spot, unless his name is Crosby or OV. Selanne is a world class player. There are 4 top line wing spots. Perry and Selanne on the right, Ryan and whoever on the left. The 3rd line isn't a bad place to be for a young full time rookie. when one of the top 4 wingers get hurt, that full time 3rd liner can see some time on the top 2 lines.

If Selanne did in fact come back, I would argue for having the second and new third line splitting second line minutes. The kids really need the minutes.

Selanne's goal scoring has tailed off dramatically. In the last 13 games he has just two goals. Over the same time frame last season he put up eight goals. Is his age catching up with him?

Who knows for sure but it has to be considered. Age is definitely becoming a factor. Every team goes through this. Look at the Devils with Brodeur. Eventually nostalgia has to take a back seat to reality.

28th in assists, 51st in goals and he still has a great two way game. Show me another Duck not named Perry, Getzlaf or Ryan who can put up those kinds of #'s and play an avg of 18:00 minutes per game at the ripe young age of 41. I look for Etem to make a strong bid for the big team next season. Blake won't be re-signed, sad to say. I do believe that Koivu & Selanne will return for one more.

Sorry dude, the refs needed the Bruins to win. That call was so bad Bruins fans sitting near us were chanting Ref You Suck. You can't convince me there is a major sport that has worse officiating than hockey.
